Before styling was really considered a paying career in Tinsel Town, there were the pioneers. The originators. One of them being Jessica Paster. Paster originally aspired to be an actress and even left home at the age of 14 to pursue her dream. She realized soon she had stage-fright and longed for something else. Thanks to a friend of a friend, the talented red carpet A-lister stylist had the opportunity to assist styling. She didn’t know what it meant, but went in and loved the chaos, the craziness and knew immediately it was her calling and has been doing it since 1995.
Paster has had the opportunity to work with Hollywood’s leading ladies and dress them beautifully for their epic nights. She has dressed Cate Blanchett, Hilary Swank, Annette Benning, Emily Blunt, and Minnie Driver—to name a few. However, in 1998 she dressed Academy Award winner, Kim Basinger (who won for best actress in L.A. Confidential), in a pistachio Escada ball gown and immediately was recognized for her work. Since then, her career escalated and has styled many red carpet events. Her longest running client is Cate Blanchett. She says, “The great thing about Jessica is [her ability] to inhabit the fashion world AND be human and real.” Perhaps that’s the reason she was ranked number 14 of the top 25 powerful stylists in Hollywood in 2011.
