Nolene is the creative and passionate teacher behind her company My New Hobby where she lives out her dream job as a Makeup Artist, Makeup Tutor and DIY home décor educator.

Nolene's passion for creativity started in 2009 when she learned the art of makeup as a retail makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics. She soon had the opportunity to be a representative for MAC South Africa and became part of their events team.During this time, Nolene gained excessive knowledge in makeup at fashion weeks, television and magazine advertisements as well as working with South African Musicians. During her spare time Nolene expanded her creative capabilities by learning various different skills which include photography, digital editing, painting and carpentry.

Nothing excites Nolene more than gaining knowledge in creativity and sharing it with others. This characteristic trait formed the inspiration for starting her own business.Her company offers students the opportunity to learn different creative skills as Nolene is able to utilize her knowledge as a professional makeup artist along with the other skills she has acquired over the years. Many of her successes are due to the use of these skills in combination, and even led to her landing an episode on television where she needed to teach a creative class. This allowed her to share her love for creativity nationally.

In 2011, while being a store retail makeup artist, she joined a team of makeup artist representing MAC Cosmetics, South Africa, in the Mercedes Benz fashion weeks, advertising campaigns (television and magazines), modelling portfolios, South African musicians, fashion editorials and more.

2013 was the year of change for her as she took the big step and decided to start her own business, utilizing the knowledge she gained through her years of working with fellow makeup artist. This was inspired by her observation of how many people craved to possess the knowledge and skills in order for them to do their own makeup on a daily basis. While being a freelance makeup artist, and teaching this creative skill to people, she soon realized she had a new skill craving too... She started to play around with Photography, Image Editing (Retouching), Painting and later Carpentry.

In 2016 Nolene decided to expand her business to not only comprise of making people beautiful but to apply the beauty aspect to their houses as well, as making things beautiful makes her soul happy! She wanted to share this experience, so she started a journey as a "Creative Teacher" teaching students not only the art of makeup but practical hands-on creative skills which they use to make creative things themselves for their homes such as DIY clocks, ornaments, photo frames and other projects that not only stimulates creativity and beauty but also acts as a form of therapy for self achievement and accomplishment.

The passion for teaching and helping others formed the foundation for becoming part of the tutoring team at The Institute of Makeup Artistry in 2018 where Nolene has the opportunity to share her creative excitement with students, and in turn for them to help her live out her creative passion.
